Meet Kimba

It’s really nice to meet you. I wish we could sit and chat over a cup of coffee. That’s more my style, but this will have to do.

A Soft Place to Land was started in April of 2008 as a way to connect with other women who shared my interests and hobbies. Things like spray paint, hot glue and sparkly buttons.

I am married to one hunky man who we call “The Hubster.” I’m a stay-at-home mom to two little boys, spray paint addict, coffee lover and worry-wart. I am also a huge fan of Jesus. In fact, He’s my #1. I don’t consider this a faith blog, but I do try to be faithful in my blogging.

Do you want to know more about me? Really? You’re just bored right?

Here are some of my best-read posts and a few of my favorites that will give you a little insight into my soul…or at least into my craft closet.

I simply can’t resist a piece of raggedy old furniture that I can beautify with some paint and fabric. Here are just a few of my faves:

A Stunning (if I do say so myself) Headboard Makeover

I Made a Coffee Table From an Old Door

DIY day at A Soft Place to Land

If you love these kinds of projects, then you’re going to want to check out DIY Day on A Soft Place to Land. Every Tuesday, we get together to share our latest and greatest DIY projects. I’m really flexible about what constitutes a DIY project. A furniture makeover, an outdoor project, an indoor project, some new artwork…heck, even a great recipe could qualify as DIY, right

Want to see some more? I love you already.

I love to have a pretty home but I don’t want to spend a ton of money or time to make that happen. Here are a few things I’ve done to spruce up the place.

Good Enough Curtains
Board and Batten in my Family Room
I Framed a Map on My Wall

I do more than just spray paint, though. I love to find inexpensive ways to decorate my walls. Like making my own botanical prints and artwork.

Sometimes I get out of control with the spray paint. Seriously. How else can you explain spray painting glass bottles , the Big Ugly Painting and Spray Painting Bunnies.

I think part of having a pretty home is by making it a sanctuary for our families. When I have the opportunity, I love to share practical ideas and inspiration for doing just that. Here are a few of my faves:

The Make Your Home More Welcoming Challenge
A Lesson in Gratitude from My Broken Sugar Bowl
My Closets are a Reflection of Me
Do You Know How Much You Matter?

And if you’re a complete glutton for punishment and want to actually hear me talking like a fool, you can watch the video on this post.

I’ve now linked to myself about 329 times in one post. I think that’s quite enough, don’t you? I’m so glad you’re here. Come join me as we try and make our homes (and ourselves) pretty…both inside and out.
