A couple of months ago, an email popped up in my inbox that made me squeal. Loudly. My kids thought I’d lost it.
I’ve calmed down a bit and I’m now a part of the Electrolux Test Drive Program. The amazing folks at HomeBuzz (a part of the FoodBuzz Community) gave me the invitation and I couldn’t say YES fast enough!
As a part of this program, they sent me a brand new Electrolux Washer and Dryer. Can you believe that? I know! Me neither.
If you follow me on Facebook, then you know that the machines are already here and that I nearly peed my pants when they arrived. Luckily, my Electrolux washer can wash a small load in only 15 minutes!
What does it say when the washer and dryer are the sexiest things in my house (besides my husband, of course)?
I’ve never shown you my laundry room before, but trust me when I say it’s a disaster. My washer and dryer were on their last legs and the room just doesn’t function.
We didn’t put in a laundry tub when we built this house. HUGE mistake. So there’s nowhere to soak stained clothes and wash out paint brushes. I’ve dreamt of having one, but it could only fit if we had a stackable washer/dryer. And now we do!
So over the next couple of months, I’m going to share the process of remodeling our laundry room into something functional and beautiful. More on that next week.
Tell me. How does your laundry room function?
This post is part of a series sponsored by Electrolux as part of Homebuzz. I received an Electrolux appliance in exchange for my participation. The opinions stated in this post are my own.

OMG! Seriously!!! How do I get the hook up??? Seething with jelously here. No really, that is soooo exciting and they are sooo pretty…..ooohhh aaahhh. My laundry room has several functions. With of coarse the most important being laundry…we also use this entry 95% of the time so it also functions as a mud room and since this is where we come in it is home to our family command center and my craft dresser incognito as a regular snazzy entry buffet dresser thingy.
I KNOW! It’s crazy, right?
Lucky you! My “laundry room” is in my dungeon of a basement. I do have a wash bin though which is really nice.

My laundry room has always been a basement dungeon too. I do like having it on the first floor.
What’s a wash bin?
How wonderful! I am interested in knowing your opinion. I have a pair of 15 year old Maytags that I am secretly hoping will die soon. When they do I will be on the look out for something new.
I’m interested in my opinion too.
I’ve never had any appliance as snazzy as these before. I think I’ll be washing every bit of fabric in my house today.
I have to laugh because I alternated between secretly hoping our old machines would die (so I could replace them) and praying that they wouldn’t (because we really couldn’t afford to do it.)
i just redid my laundry room (by myself
) and spent less than $50.00.. i don’t have the fab washer and dryer that you have and my room has to function as more than a laundry room, but i love the way it turned out. you can see it here…

You lucky duck! I’ve got a nice set of LG machines but I definitely need to figure out a plan to revamp the laundry area! It’s located in our basement which is not finished! It is dark and dingy for sure!
That is so great!! I would have TOTALLY chosen red, too! We don’t have an actual laundry room yet…the w & d are behind a set of folding doors…but we have plans of enclosing the small room it’s in sometime and making it a more workable space for the fun task of laundry. =)

LOVE the red! And a laundry room is definitely all about function. Good luck with yours!
I have the electrolux as well (boo… had to pay for it though) and love it so much. We also stacked them for added folding space. LOVE!!! Enjoy!
I love this post. It made me smile –
A last year at Thanksgiving our washer and dryer went out. It was a horrible time for us to purchase another set. Our prior sets all given to us by friends and family. So we waited for a couple of weeks and then found a great deal on a LG set. Upon delivery and set up we all just watched as the first load washed. What a great family night activity. It is the little things that make us so happy.

I’m SOOO jealous! I’m in the process of buying a new washer and dryer. I totally covet the ones from Electrolux, but they would blow my budget
I totally came feel your excitement. Such a wonderful thing.
I recently spent the better part of a year creating a laundry room. It was a two step process, but I am IN LOVE with doing laundry now. My stackables make me smile whenever I walk into the room.
Sheesh. I need to type slower. I meant that I CAN totally feel your excitement. How great is it to get new RED stackables!
Ok, those pictures are just ADORABLE!!!! And I have a laundry tub and NEVER use it. Seriously, it becomes the holding bin for everything that doesn’t have a place, and I wish I could have that space for extra storage.
Doing the happy laundry dance with you. (Did you do it already?)

Where do you soak your stained clothes and wash out paint brushes? That’s why I miss my laundry tub.
{happy dance. happy dance.}
Red – Wow!. Hope to see more on your laundry room soon.

I had a laundry tub in my old house and I didn’t realize how much I used it until I didn’t have one anymore. I end up soaking stained clothes in the kitchen sink.
Squealing for you! Oh. My. Gosh! So happy for you! Our laundry room is sooooo pitiful. I am VERY grateful to have one, don’t get me wrong. At least my washer and dryer aren’t in my kitchen or even my hallway. But they are both on their last leg.
My laundry will be living vicariously through your blog.

Thanks friend!
I was grateful that my old machine was still working but this set is fab!
Oh I am jealous!!!! I have been dreaming of an Electrolux washer and dryer. We have a dvr, so when my hubby and I watch tv at night we fast forward through all the commercials….except for the Electrolux ones….I’ll be like “WAit! STOP!” then he sighs and sits there rolling his eyes while I watch the commercial. I just feel like my life (or at least my laundry day) would be more orderly if I could wash clothes in half the time that I’m currently doing them. Congrats and enjoy!!!
YES! I love the Electrolux commercials too!
I’ve done 7 loads of laundry so far today (clothes and bedding) and I can’t believe how fast it’s going! My old machine would take well over an hour (sometimes 90 minutes!) just to wash a regular load. This machine is doing a full-size regular load in 30-40 minutes. Love that!
Kinba, OMG. Seriously?
We got a front loader about a year ago – love it. Less water, saves money, spins more water out so clothes dry faster – which uses less gas. I think I’m in love with your red washer!

Kimba! Wow! That is great. I love the graphics you added with the hearts. Very clever. My laundry room is in the basement and the appliances are nearing the end of their lives (16 years in our house now!) My husband has fixed the washer twice, to which my MIL always tells me, “I’m sorry he’s so handy” and sometime I am too! A little.

GET OUT! That is so awesome! I totally wanted to get my washers in red! I am thrilled for you!! What an awesome deal!
I opted to put a counter on top of my washers rather than a sink, but I have a bathroom sink just around the counter. I love the counter for folding sorting, and it works out great for “staging areas” for holidays.

No. way. I can’t believe I just thought to myself “that’s so pretty” when I looked at a washer and dryer. We still have our much loved and well used standard set….but they won’t last forever – next house, baby, next house. Enjoy them!
WOW!! WOW!! WOW!! How lucky. I love these washers and driers. So wonderful to get them for free!!!!!! Can’t wait to see your laundry room. We don’t have a sink near our washer and drier either. It’s a pain.

Congrats on the win…now you have to do laundry the 21st century way. Still seems like work but how fun to see the machines in red when you do.
I love mine, they are wonderful and even though the task of laundry hasn’t really changed, the machines are amazing.
How very cool!!!!! Enjoy, can’t wait to see the new laundry room!
Yeah Kimba!

I am so happy for you! I love that red color. Woohoo!!
I bet it makes doing laundry so much more fun.
(If you could ever call it fun in the first place.)
Can’t wait to follow your laundry room re-do.
Have a great week.

My laundry “room” (if that’s what you call it) STINKS! It is about the size of a double closet and it has bi-fold doors. It is so small that the dryer has to be angled so that the door will fold down and the washer door (it’s a front-load) won’t open all the way. There is one shelf that rests above my washer and dryer. So, there is zero storage and dirty laundry piles up in one place and clean in another. I loathe not having a true, functioning space to do laundry, especially with a family of 5.
