The Pace of Summer

by Kimba on July 22, 2010

in Real Me

Even though the pace of summer is slow, it still feels like time is flying by. Some days, the time with my kiddos feels like sand slipping through my fingers. I want to hold onto it as long as I can.

So we’re filling the long, hot days with our favorite things. Mostly Epic Sandbox Wars: Star Wars Vs. Dinosaurs. And we’re working our way though our Summer List.

Did you see that Jenny from DIY Newlyweds turned her summer list into a fun piece of artwork? She’s a genius.

What’s your favorite thing to do this summer? Is there something that’s distracting you from focusing on the people that you love?

My favorite thing is traveling {a little} during the Summer, and there nothing really distracting me at the moment, or should I say nothing that I can think of. Now I’m off to see Jenny’s diy project.

I’m a busy-body, you’re not supposed to ask those questions to a busy-body. But I’m glad you did. It’s a good reminder: it’s summertime and I have kids. Sweet post, thanks.

HMMMM my favorite thing to do now that I am an empty nester…. cuddle up on the patio with good book and listen to the world go by.

Yeah, what Erin said! I am so guilty of getting so into the routine that I forget to step out of it and savor how spontaneous and fun the combination of kids and summer is. Thank you for the perfectly timed reminder. There may have to be some Epic Sandbox Wars going on around here, too.

I can’t believe school is less than an month away. Where has the summer gone? More than that, as the mom of a 10-year old, where have the years gone? I’m not sure he would even want to play in the sandbox with me anymore! : )

I love to travel, but my husband’s schedule doesn’t allow for it, and we don’t really have any extra money for that. I try to enjoy our trips to the pool instead. :)

I agree, summer is passing by way too quickly. Funny how times was so slow when we were children and so fast as adults.

My favorite part of summer is when my niece and two nephews come to stay with us for a week. They’re here right now and it’s so much fun having the house full of children. :-)

I need summer to stop NOW! It’s the time I get things done and can just be with no “pressure,” but it’s not feeling that way. I look at the calendar and realize it’s flying by without me. UGH….But I do hope it flies to Oct so I get to hang with you. :)
