Summer officially begins for our family today. School is out and we’re looking forward to 3 months of sun, sprinklers, popcicles and lightning bugs.
Here’s our 2010 Summer List. I shamelessly stole this idea from Meg at Whatever. Thanks Meg! You rock!
This is our 2nd year for the Summer List. Here’s the 2009 version. I need something to help me be a little more intentional about how we spend our time. The Summer List is a major help.
~You’ll be happy to see that we got a jump-start on summer by making “Last Day of School Sundaes” last night. Priorities, people.
~Idlewild Park is rated the 2nd BEST kids park in the WORLD! (And it’s only 30 minutes from my house!) If you live in PA, OH or WV, it’s worth a trip.
~I’m hoping that “Dig a big hole” will happen at the beach. But with boys, you never know.
~We have the best kind of boat. We call it our FOB (Friends with Boats).
~Tractor pull? Have I mentioned that I’m a hick?
What’s on your list for the summer?

I’m totally doing a summer list this year. I think Finn would love it.

Love the list! Then we can look back and SEE what fun we had and things we got accomplished over the summer! And though we have a boat we have FWLH (Friends with Lake Houses)! Woo Hoo!! Though we have had a TON of rain so far….I am wishing for sunshine!!
Have a great weekend!

This is a great idea! Definitely doing it. It really caught my eye because we are also about 30 minutes from Idlewild!! Best park, especially with little kids. So I have to ask, is Planet Ice something that is also local? Sounds intriguing.
We do this, too! Each of us write down 10 things that we want to do this summer and then we combine it all. Its such a fun idea and it gives me plenty of ideas for summer fun! LOVE it!
That’s a great list, Kimba!! I love summer fun!
That IS a great idea! I may have to copy it too! thanks!
Love your list! We will be replacing Idlewild with Kennywood this year.
If your kids like tractor pulls, see if the county fair you attend has a pedal tractor pull. The kids can take part and it really is fun for them.
One other suggestion is an afternoon at Steeler’s Training Camp in Latrobe. We went last year and it was a great time for free. You can even pack a picnic lunch and lots of soft drinks, water, etc. to enjoy at Saint Vincent’s. They set up a small NFL experience for the kids (admission is charged for the NFL experience but is minimal).
Enjoy your summer!
Oh yes! I definitely want to do Steeler’s Training Camp this year.
And I’m definitely going to look into the pedal tractor pull! That’s awesome! My father-in-law is big into tractor pulling so we go to see him a couple of times in the summer. The kids would flip if they could participate in some way.
Great idea!!
Oooo, I used to go to Idlewild all the time when I was little!
I think we should have a playdate up there sometime this summer.
Nice!
On my list is go berry-picking. I love U-pick local berries, and it is so fun!

We make a summer list every year, and it really does help when we have a lot of free time spreading out before us. I’d say, we usually get to about 90% of it.
Hey, dig a big hole can take up lots of time! Once my kids found a tree that tipped over in the woods and their goal was to strip the upended roots of soil…it took months!

I adore this idea. I think I will have to shamelessly steal this idea as well
Hope you get to accomplish everything on your list!

I don’t have kids, but I made myself a summer to-do list also and blogged about it. I have mentally added a few more things to my list already too!

Kimba, the list looks like a lot of fun. I totally understand making the sundaes first. Your priorities are right in order;-)
You had me laughing about the boat! Yes, that is the best kind to have. Happy summer!

I had no IDEA you were in my “neck of the woods”! I have no kids, but my husband and parents and I tend to still gravitate towards Storybook Forest!
Love the list! I’m also 30 minutes from Idlewild . . I live in Irwin . . . we always hit the Boyce Park Wave Pool! Saw drive-in on your list . . . we usually vary between Latrobe and the Evergreen in Mt. Pleasant! A really cool Saturday morning thing to do is the Ligonier Country Market . . .lots of fresh flowers, crafts and goodies to be found there on Saturday mornings!
I went to storybook forest every year for my birthday. so fun…..you also might want to try a just duckie tour if you haven’t already gone. very fun for kids. they let them steer the boat in the river. great photo op.
Hi, I just discovered your blog and absolutely love it!! I would love for you to visit My Dream Canvas. I am hosting a giveaway and would love to hear from you

Woo-hoo! We made the list!!!
What the heck is Planet Ice?
I found this a couple of days after I made my “bucket list for summer” which I called a Sand-bucket list. I LOVE it! What a creative way to do it. I am telling all the young mommies I know…wish I’d been this creative when my kids were young. In time for my grandbebes, though!
LOVE your blog!
Love this idea! I usually try to keep a running list of fun things to do on the computer, but I love the checklist format! This will be our second year to Idlewild with our little Munchkin (and gazillionth time for us) – it is such an awesome family-friendly park!!

We made our list last Friday night. Dad even got into it with a surprise request “go to a concert.” And we managed to check 3 things off already.
I had no idea you live in my old stomping grounds. I was there visiting this weekend. Had I known, I would have pounded on your door!
I just wanted to let you know that we made our own list…except ours is stuff to do before my son turns 2 this fall. You can check it out here if you are interested:

Kimba, thanks so much for posting this! Now that we’re out for summer, we made one, too.
