I went to bed last night with an urn-full of sticks on my hearth.

I like decorating with sticks. They’re easy. And free.

And I woke up this morning to an urn-full of blooming sticks.
Totally kidding. But they’re pretty good fakes, I think. And when your front yard looks like this, sometimes a girl needs to dream of spring.

The Nester has another great idea for decorating with sticks.
Has spring sprung in your area yet?
There’s a TON of great projects DIY Day this week! And make sure you leave a comment so you’re entered to win one of 11 (yes, ELEVEN) prizes from My Design Guide!

It doesn’t feel like Spring here either but I did see the daffodils starting to poke up out of the ground! There is hope!

You can come visit us today…..we are supposed to get up to 70!!!!! Wow, what a day….so ready for spring! Unfortunately in no time at all, it will be near 100!!! I love the short window of time that will actually be spring! Because you know we truly have four seasons in TX right?..they are summer, super summer, still summer and Christmas……spring falls right in there between Christmas and summer for a few days….:D

Wow!! That’s a lot of snow! Luckily, all our snow here in Kansas is melting. Yay!! And it’s going to be in the 50s this weekend. Double yay!! I am SO sick of Winter. I’m ready for green grass and flip-flops.
I love decorating with sticks!! I wonder sometimes if I have too many in my house
. I think they are just fabulous!
I totally went for it. They do look real. We are starting to melt a little here. It was 50 degrees here yesturday, we thought it was spring. No! We are still waiting.

That picture of your mailbox could have been taken at my house too, BUT there is hope! We have had some melting snow this week!
How amazing you woke up to blooming sticks this morning! You must have had your furnace turned up high in the night.
Donna
I was going to say, how high do you keep the heat at night! : ) It’s snowing here AGAIN.

Oh, honey. When did you take that photo of your mailbox? Please tell me that was January.
It actually snowed last night here in North Carolina. What a winter. But spring is coming! Really!!
WHERE did you get those dogwood branches? They really do look great!

We got a dusting of snow last night in E. North Carolina, but I also have some small daffodils in bloom! I am so thankful for those little blooms..
Beautiful sticks! We’ve been grateful for a bit of warmer weather this week-thankfully the sun has come out too. But we’re ready for blue skies and dry days as we’ve had much more rain than normal this year (and so much less snow). Wishing for some melting to come your way!

Our “Thankful Tree” is still up…but now it has snowflakes on it. Perhaps it’s time for us to wrap little spring flowers on it! (Our front yard looks similar to yours.)

I love the little touch of Spring you have.
The snow only just recently melted here…it was great to see grass again!
Oh my, that mailbox! I will officially no longer whine about our cold weather – or at least attempt to not whine. We have only gotten ‘dustings’ here in the deep South thank goodness. I’m wishing you some warm sunny days so that your mailbox can thaw out!
That snow is unbelievable! I feel for you. I am excited for Spring, and I cant imagine having that much snow outside right now. Yikes! The branches look beautiful, fake or not.

I love the arrangement!! I have been nervous to decorate with sticks for fear that my 2-year old will turn them all into wands and conducting batons.
We’re anxious for Spring too. It has been super mild here in Calgary, Canada. We’re supposed to be in the 50s all week, and the other day we had green shoots comng up in the lawn. Too bad we’ll likely get nailed with a few more feet of snow before spring actually shows up! Ahhh…Mother Nature!!!

I love the sticks!
Ok, you tricked me! I was just about to run out to the back yard to clip some dogwood branches! Luckily, I was on a horse so that slowed me down a bit
heh.

Kimba, I’m in total agreement with you! I totally need flowers right NOW. Last week I bought daffodils at the grocery and when I go tomorrow I’m getting tulips (I saw that they were on sale). My yard looks just like yours and I totally NEED a sign of spring. Although, the past two mornings I could hear birds signing, that’s a SURE SIGN! YAY!!!
Ok–the blonde comes from a bottle now, but it used to be natural–i totally believed you! They are good fakes.

I have tried forcing branches to bloom and have not been very successful. But I can so see why a girl would need a boost with all that miserable snow. I am sick of it myself for all of you folks stuck with the never ending winter.
Think spring!

Great post. I am really anxious for Spring to arrive!
I just love it when my branches bloom faux flowers! : )
Spring hasn’t even sprung here, and the forsythia branches have usually bloomed by mid or late February. Nary a peep from them yet.

no, spring has not sprung yet. We had a dusting of snow last night. But I do think it is getting closer.
Gorgeous! I’ll gladly trade you some snow for all this riduculous 70-degree sun that I have here in CA.
