Spray Painted Zombie Bunnies

I have nothing interesting to say…nothing clever, wise or funny. Nothing inspiring, practical or spray painted. I do have approximately 53 projects in process because someone is coming to my house with a video crew. But that’s a story for another day (it’s not HGTV, but it will be fun).

painting family room

Thankfully, my mom is here for a few days. She’s good at saying things like, “Kimba, stop lining the inside of those drawers with scrapbook paper and go paint that wall.” I have a problem with priorities.

And did you hear that Easter is coming? Yeah. It’s this weekend. So today I have to find the Easter baskets and go to the store to fill the Easter baskets. Because I bought a bunch of candy two weeks ago and then I ate it all. That’s what me and my hiney get for being on the ball.

decoupage bunny

As I was cleaning out a drawer yesterday (to line it with paper), I found the Decoupaged Pink Damask Bunny that I made last year. He’s still kinda cute…and kinda freaky.

resurrection rolls

And by the end of the week, I’m determined to make these Resurrection Rolls with my kids. Easy, tasty and meaningful.

We have an Easter egg hunt and family dinner on Saturday and a family dinner on Sunday. What are you plans for the weekend?

The winners of last week’s giveaway from Sodderbug are Julie of Singing Three Little Birds from the linker-uppers and Classically Amber from the commenters. Congratulations, girls! Shoot me an email and we’ll get you set up.

We’re making our candy this year…I’ve got an entire shelf of my freezer loaded down with chocolate chips from the other holidays – why do I always buy them? Anyway, candy and decorated cookies are part of our plans this weekend, and I have to go now so I can finish lining my drawers with book pages, and try to find our zombie bunnies….ha, everybody has at least one, right?

Sounds like Cottage Child has a lot to get done…I hear humming old Vanilla Ice tunes while you work can really make the time fly, or maybe you’re supposed to whistle? I forget which.

Kimba, you my not know it, but whether you feel like you have anything to say or not, your post are always inspiring! Thank you.

I can’t whistle with cookie dough in my mouth – I’ve tried.

That is exactly why I can’t buy holiday candy early! I made a Target run yesterday to get some candy, and I have already sampled a few of the things I brought home:)

I haven’t bought any candy because I would eat it:( I don’t have to do the basket thing any more but I will buy something for my 16 yr. old.

Have a good day.

I totally understand the priority thing! Hubby has to help me stay on task, or I would line the drawer bottoms with scrapbook paper too–that really does sound cute!

On Easter, we start Thursday night with a moving Maundy Thursday service of Shadows–we strip the alter of everything and replace it with black linen cloth. Very powerful. Then, on Friday, we have a Good Friday service that is powerful too–clips of Mel Gibson’s “The Passion” will be shown in addition to beautiful music. But, Sunday’s coming!! PTL! I will cook and do the traditional baskets–my boys are older, but they love tradion! Happy Easter, Kimba!!

I, too, have a hard time staying focused when involved in several projects. I call it AD’D’D (attention deficit ‘decorating’ dissorder)

How exciting, a video segment. oooh. I need to make a quick trip to get basket items. We discovered a few years ago that being prepared just meant mommy and daddy ending up eating the candy beforehand!

11 Becca's Dirt March 31, 2010 at 10:02 am

I had to laugh when you said you ate the candy. For years I did that and then I started to wait till the day before. I like the idea of lining the drawers with scrapbook paper. Hope you have a great weekend and Happy Easter. I am not sure what I’ll be doing.

12 Jennifer Juniper March 31, 2010 at 10:03 am

That last picture of the roll looked like the inside of your intestine to me (oops) I thought you were having a colonoscopy!

Driving waaay too far to have Easter in New Jersey, and my munchkin just went to the ER for xrays of a possible broken foot. So, I’m a little behind the 8 ball this holiday too!

Happy cupboard lining!

Your candy/hiney dilemma made me laugh out loud. That’s exactly why I don’t buy it early! I’m off to buy Easter stuff today. Hopefully, it will make it ’til Sunday.

In preparation for this weekend I have done…nothing. Oh, well, Kiddo doesn’t really care about Easter baskets anyway. He cares more about the candy than anything, so we’ll probably hit the clearance candy aisle next week. We have too much stuff going on between now and Easter for me to even THINK about candy. Church tonight, small group tomorrow night, Sound Man has drama practice Friday night, I have choir practice Saturday morning, Kiddo baseball scrimmage Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening Easter service (to alleviate some of the crowd Sunday – it’s mostly for members who will be serving Sunday morning) at which we have to be by 5:00; Sunday morning services at which we have to be by 7:00 a.m; home by 12:30 or so…unless we eat out somewhere. Whew! I’m tired already! So, that’s our weekend. 😀

Hi Kimba-I think it is the first time I have commented, just wanna say-great blog! Love the pink bunny. We celebrate Easter dinner on Saturday-my husband is a pastor and does the sunrise service…incase you were wondering the sun will be rising at 6:45 in Florida:)

23 jenjen March 31, 2010 at 12:49 pm

So exciting about the tv crew. I can’t wait to hear more. And how fun that you get to spend time with your mom. Mine is the same way — she helps me get organized and stay on task!

Hi Kimba,
Your post was so funny today. It sounds exactly like my life right now (without the TV crew coming). Easter baskets are still packed away. I finished the last of the Easter candy yesterday. Oh, and I’m happily making curtains for my dining room when I should be cleaning my house for company on Sunday. My toilets aren’t clean, but check out my dining room…

Don’t feel bad! I haven’t done Easter bsket shopping yet either. I’ll echo Kacey…is your mom available for hire? 😉

29 Jess @ Just a Blink March 31, 2010 at 5:11 pm

I remember those bunnies, didn’t they have pink eyes before? The paint job helped them out a bunch, I just wish I knew what they were looking at!

I really, REALLY, want to make the Resurrection buns too. If I feel too busy, which let’s face it, I probably will, I am going to make a sour dough loaf tomb on Good Friday (predone bread that you scoop out using a rock for the door and a clothes pin for Jesus).

Anyway, Happy Easter! Can’t wait to hear what’s happening with the video crew!

A video crew? Wow! How exciting! I mean, how terrifying! Or maybe both!

The only Easter candy I’ve allowed inside my house this year is jelly beans. No Peeps, no Reese’s pieces, no M&M’s. Because if those were in my house, they’d soon be in my tummy (or thighs, or hiney, or whatever). So maybe there will be a bunch of us doing last-minute runs to the store for candy. I can tell you this: no matter how big your boys get, they’ll still want Easter baskets. 🙂

Oh Kimba, you sound like me, I have so much to do, I don’t know where to start, so I jump from thing to thing.
My kitchen and dining room looks like a sugar bomb exploded! Oh wait! It did! really, I tried to make chocolate bowls on balloons and they popped! Yup! I think I need to stick to decorating cupcakes 🙂
Making the usual Easter dinner, just for our family. The boys will have baskets and I make a nest on our buffet, just like my Mom used to.
Have a blessed Easter!

35 jessica April 2, 2010 at 10:41 pm

thanks for the resurrection roll link, I’ll have to try that with my boys. I’m keeping it simple with baking, etc…this year since I’ve been doing so much of it all week long lately. I’m doing an apple, snickers, cool-whip “salad” and then a garden salad to take to the inlaws…. I have to eat healthy stuff so I’m bringing something for everyone with these two things. We decorated eggs today after Good Friday service and the baskets are ready to go for Easter a.m.
Blessings to you this Easter weekend!
