Today’s post is proof that I love you. Hallelujah and Amen. It seemed like a good idea a few weeks ago at 3am. Now? I’m not so sure. But I’m plowing ahead regardless of my second thoughts. And I don’t have anything else written for today.
If there are any fellas here, you should probably just go check out ESPN. There’s nothing for you to see here today. We’re going into the inner sanctum of female beauty rituals. You’re better off not knowing what goes on in here.
So let’s talk about the burning question. Wax or tweeze? Which do you do?
In case it’s not obvious, before is on the left…after is on the right.
I’m a waxing kind of girl. Tweezing is a slow torture. Waxing gets it over with quickly. I make an appointment every 3 weeks or so and it costs $10 + tip. Worth every penny.
In my “after” picture it looks like my one eyebrow is oddly arched and my other is not. I know not why. They look the same in real life.
And since I know that someone is going to ask…Yes. I wax the ‘stache too. The bane of the dark haired girl. One day everything looks fine. The next day, I look like Uncle Vinnie.
Your turn. Wax or Tweeze?

Wax.
I am having an eyebrow emergency and need to go SOON.
I NEVER wax – I get mine threaded. Check out eyebrow threading… its amazing!!! Same price as waxing, much quicker, MUCH less painful and (I think) better results! I pluck in between if I get strays.
I’ve been wanting to try threading. I need to find someone here who does it.
Wax with tweezers inbetween.
Betweezen. HA!
Wax. All the way. I have blonde eyebrows that you can’t really even see, so I don’t go as often as I should. I do get them tinted darker when I go, but the tint only lasts for about 3 weeks.
I do want to try threading. I always get a little breakout around my eyebrows about a week after I had them waxed, so I wonder if threading would keep that from happening.

I get my brows waxed – love the shape and polished look – it makes a big difference on the frame of one’s face!
I do tweeze in-between as well.

i actually shave them! I have these really tiny razors made for eyebrows. I just shave off the offending hairs. Not perfect – but pain free, immediate, and $2.00 for a box of 3 razors that lasts about 90 days!

I’m a dark haired girl too and have been blessed with an abundance of hair. That is great on my head but everywhere else? Not so much. I wax and tweeze in between and wish I could just dip myself in wax up to my eyebrows and be done with it. They say you have to shave your legs less often when you get older but I haven’t found that to be true yet.
I wax, but I should go more often. It’s tough to have time for everything!

I wax. Plucking my eyebrows is just torture! Plucking should only be used as a form of torture to gather information for the FBI
wax. at home. I saw some on threading and YIKES! That looks painful!

Believe it or not, I got my FIRST eyebrow wax job a few weeks ago, thanks to my daughter in law. She took me in to get my nails done, and the lady took one look at me and said, “You need to wax your eyebrows!” I just looked at her and smiled, “Really?” That’s all it took. She took a little more off than I would have liked, but it does look better. Guess now I will have to keep it up. (And yes, I did the ‘stache too!)
I’m obsessed with tweezing. For real, I tweeze something on my face every. single. day. I take my tweezers with me on any trip or vacation because my eyebrows would touch my eyelids if they had the chance. AND I have 3 witch hairs on my chinny chin chin that need to be kept in line. “I’ll get you, my pretty!”
Jennifer Juniper´s last blog ..We’re Into It
Ah yes! The chin hairs. So romantic. I used to have a mole on my chin. The mold was removed but apparently, the hair follicle remains.
I get mine threaded, and have been for years. It’s only about $6 each time and I only found it the teeniest bit uncomfortable the first time I went. It’s so fast and the place I go does a really great job (most of the time anyways!), I would highly recommend it.
I say tweeze. If i can keep up with it regularly, it’s fab. If not…torture. I used to frequent a salon? in Toronto (North York) while I was working there where these Iranian women would thread or tweeze facial hair. Now, I’m a readhead with rather bare eyebrows, but I would actually get comments from strangers about how lovely my brows were. I miss that!
I feel like I have an eyebrow dilemma………thin eyebrows since I had some hair loss with thyroid issues…..but the ones I have are long…..I wouldn’t mind trying waxing, but I just don’t know if I need it since I am just not that hairy. I would however like to feel better about the grooming aspect of what I DO have…..any suggestions?

HA!! That was funny. I Definitely wax AND tweeze in between. I have a 10x magnified mirror that allows me to see EVERY single fine little eyebrow and I obsessively tweeze until time to wax. I did get threaded last time by a lady who, in the middle of my threading, told me she was a “hair nazi”. She did my entire face and I was geting sick to my stomach thinking of the beard I would have in a month because of it… Your brows look fab! Thanks for the fun, lighthearted post!! It made my day!
Jennifer
GAH! I greatly fear the 10x magnification mirror!:)
I wax, tweeze in between if needed.
I recently had my legs waxed…that is just slow torture-but also had my underarms done-and that is awesome! You don’t even sweat after for a few days-

Waxing all the way here! I just had my eyebrows and stache done over the weekend as well. Not to mention those darn scraggly chin hairs I am cursed with since turning 40 several years ago. I think I look pretty darn good some days, till I climb behind the wheel of my car, look up into the rear view mirror and the sun hits those shiny gray hairs on my chin. Lordy, to be younger again!

I tweeze, but I used to wax — which spoiled me. I wish I could wax now, but I can’t find the time to make One More Appointment in my life. I have seen the threading technique, and several friends I know swear by it, but I haven’t tried it. There’s actually a threading specialist who has a chair right outside the food court in our mall — which I think is HILARIOUS. “Just picked up Chick-fil-A; now I’m getting threaded 10 feet away.”

I’m a WAXING girl for sure! I also tweeze strays in between, but waxing always looks so great when you’re done. You’re lucky, $10 is crazy cheap, I pay closer to $20! I only go every 6 weeks though, so I suppose it all evens out.

i just posted about my eyebrows earlier this week!! i do both. I love a good wax, but when I am too lazy to get to the salon I tweeze. I used to wax the ‘stache too but I stopped when I discovered the finishing touch. No pain and faster than waxing. It is great on those fine hairs but it doesn’t work well for the thicker eyebrow hairs.

Only $10!?! I was a tweezing girl, but now I’m thinking of converting! Thank goodness you also wax the stache. There is this cashier at Walmart, who we assume is a woman because her name tag reads Kathleen and she has a little of a bust. HOWEVER…She has a full on mustache happening. Not a good thing. I’m always afraid one of my kiddos will notice and add loud commentary, the embarrassing way kids do! My hubby’s buddy recently said to him, “I like shopping at Walmart in the evening cause then I get to see the hairy lip lady”! Can you IMAGINE? Yes, waxing is good.
Sorry for going off, you just got me thinking

I’m one of those lucky few where tweezing is almost permanent hair removal, I only need to pluck a couple if hairs once every few weeks after I tweezed them a couple of times as a teen, my legs are the same way, so when I am bored or find I have some time to kill I break out the tweezers and go to town on my legs, I have cut my shaving down by at least half that way, probably more.
OMG….I about peed w/your ‘stache comment! So funny! I’m a waxer too. But, I do some tweezing in between times. Now, I totally suck at staying on top of them, then they get unruly and I stop tweezing due to the massive amount. So, when I do finally make it back for a waxing, it’s a tad ridiculous!
Kimba, I was a bushy brow girl until I went to college and a roommate did electrolysis on her brows and upper lip. I decided to go with her one time and I found it not to be as painful as I had imagined. So I stuck with it (pun intended) for six solid months, paying 30 dollars for a 35 minute session every other week.
That was seventeen years ago.
I have never plucked or waxed since because there’s no need. There are no hairs and my brows are beautifully shaped.
It was worth every penny.
Laurie Eller
I’ve always wondered about electrolysis. Hmmmm….
When I say it didn’t hurt much, I really mean that. If you go to the right gal, she will put ice on the spot she is working on. The good ones charge a bit more but it’s very worth it. I don’t even own a pair of tweezers. lol
Give it a try. Go for only 15 minutes and see how you handle it. Even if you just do the inner part of the brows… I think you’d be so pleased.
Just think how happy you’d be not doing that for the rest of your life.
Good luck!

I am a big fan of waxing. Brows, ‘stache, legs, armpits – WAX, WAX, WAX! It hurts for the moment, but it’s sooo worth not having to shave or tweeze.

I tweeze. I CANNOT stand wax. Which is funny seeing as how I burn my fingers with hot glue every chance I get. : )
Now, paraffin? That’s another story. Dip my hand or foot in that stuff and I’m in heaven.
Back to tweezing, I have a huge mirror in my bathroom which makes it easier to stand right next to and pluck away at my gigantic eyebrows. I have yet to do anything to the ‘stache, because if I don’t pay attention to it, no one else does, right? ; )

I wax and I tweeze in between waxings
I’m definitely a tweezer. I think I’ve been doing it for so long, it doesn’t really hurt anymore. Seriously! I’d love to wax, but the in between stage would kill me, so I just do the tweezing.
Wax, all the way. In fact, they desperately need to be done now, but I’m waiting until later in the week so they’re “fresh” for my plans this weekend. I’ll take 30 seconds of pain for a waxing over endless pain from tweezing any day. Plus, I really just don’t have the patience to tweeze.

I wax since I have to wear my reading glasses if I want to tweeze and you just can’t get to your eyebrows when you are wearing glasses! Mine is $8.00 plus tip and I go every two weeks. I don’t do any of those. I’m just lucky, I guess. I love my brows the way they are.
Wax. And I just realized that I need to go SOON!
I’m probably one of the last few women who tweeze. I’m afraid that waxing will make them grow back thicker and faster. So, I’m a tweezer.
I much prefer waxing for the same reason as you… tweezing is torture. However, I don’t make it to the salon very often due to homeschool and 4 children, so I tweeze between visits. I hate tweezing!!

I wax my eyebrows and the “stache”….dark haired girl here. I’ve done it since I was in high school. If I were to let my eyebrows grow out, I’d look like Eddy Munster…honest.
I actually use Veet for my arms and legs…it gets them silky smooth. The only downfall is that I don’t care for the smell immediately after but for seven dollars for about three treatments…it’s worth it.

I tweeze right now. I tweezed before, then waxed int he middle but we were on a tight budget so I had to drop that luxury. I should go back to waxing now that our budget changed, but I can’t seem to let them grow out again so they can be waxed. I hate that stage of grow out since I am so bushy.

I too, thread. I thread because the hairs on my face get darker and thicker as I tweeze or wax. Threading will also cause your hairs to get less and less….so in about a year, you will only have to thread about once very other month…no kidding! It’ really not that painful…it just looks that way.

I wax and pluck in between..and I have to just say that for about 2 weeks after I get waxed, I really am a happier person.
I know! I actually feel better after I’ve waxed. Weird, huh?
I’m all about the tweezers. I’ve been doing it since I was a teenager and it’s free. It doesn’t even hurt anymore either.
LOL at the Uncle Vinnie scenario! I’m a tweezer. Well, not an actual pair of tweezers – but you know what I mean. They key to tweezing is not waiting until I look like Bert from Sesame Street. It’s a part of my daily make-up ritual. I just pluck out the 2 or 3 stray hairs everyday before I put on my make-up. It only takes a couple of extra seconds and I never look like “The Unibrower”.

I wax! In my twenties, I was to drive to DC to negotiate a huge contract – the largest I ever have – so I decided to clean up my eyebrows to make sure I looked my professional best at 6:30 am. My hand slipped and I scratched my eye. I had to call and postpone the meeting – eating a little humble pie. And, I had to explain why it was ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for me to pluck my eyebrows at 6:30 am at the next quarterly review for our division. As I am, obviously clumsy, I have never picked up those tweezers again.

I tweeze a little between waxings just to keep it neat. But I have some major Brooke Shields eyebrows, so waxing is a MUST. (My mother, who barely has eyebrows, says that I’m “lucky” – pfft.) Also, is it just me — I always have major sneezing fits (like allergy-type) when I pluck my eyebrows. It’s probably just me…

I also sneeze like crazy when I pluck my eyebrows! My nose immediately starts running, then I sneeze several times. It’s such a weird thing to watch me “cry” while I’m plucking my eyebrows!
Okay, so I am a waxing lover BUT!!!! guess what my facial gal told me???
Waxing is much worse for the “tautness” of the delicate eye area. The more you wax your eye area and even the upper lip area, the more elasticity you loose from all that pulling…ARGGGG!!! Like I needed one more facial concern!!!
Mine are very thin but long and dark. I usually use tiny scissors and a comb to trim them and then tweeze the strays.
I’m a tweeze kind of girl. I couldn’t stand that in-between stage that I imagine you get from waxing, though I see a lot of you tweeze in between appointments.
I really don’t think it hurts at all. I remember back to my early teens when I first became aware of my Bert-like unibrow, and I remember it made my eyes water terribly, but now I don’t feel a thing.
WAX!!! Tweezing is torture! And as my girl so kindly says…”it’s not a mustache, it’s your upper lip”. My poor husband has to shave his upper lip all the time! ;0)
By the way, I think all girls should do one of the other, especially as we get past 35…it’s like an instant facial!

I have sensitive skin, so waxing is NOT my friend. I am red for days and days. I heard about threading and gave it a try – it’s awesome. Granted, the pain is a little more drawn out, but is worth in the long run. And – I think there is more control….so my arches look way better.
You are so funny and fabulous! I feel so much more validated in my “dark haired girl” needs. All in the name of beauty, right? Otherwise we would be, the beast!
ELECTROLYSIS all the way! I used to tweeze but when I began to get the dreaded black facial hairs here and there (esp. a few on chin and neck, yuck!) my sister encouraged me to go for electrolysis. Easy peasy and cheap! I started out every week for 3 weeks at $25 per session (okay, not so cheap to start) but after 3 weeks in a row went to every 3-4 weeks (usually about $12-15) because it was under control so quickly. I still go every 4-5 weeks for $12-$15 dollars but my eyebrows haven’t needed a touch up since the beginning. Just some strays left on my upper lip and chin. I put the tweezers in the first aid kit for splinters.

Fellow “dark-haired girl” here and I feel your pain…I neither wax nor tweeze, but rather thread. Luh-huh-ove it!! I discovered it just after my son was born three years ago. I had thought of getting the laser hair removal treatments, but was concerned with any long-term effects it might cause {b/c even though it’s “safe”, we really don’t know yet, do we?}. Threading seemed like such a safer route to go. It’s a much quicker alternative to tweezing and I don’t have to worry about ingrown hairs or getting burned like waxing can cause. I go every two weeks, three max, and pay $30 for full-face…worth every penny.

My eyebrows need to be declared in a state of emergency. I prefer to go with the waxing…but I have to be VERY careful where I go. I’ve had it done in the rinky dink hair salons in the mall, and come home with skin ripped off my eyelids (no lie. the day before my bridal portraits).
Now I go to the spa to have it done. They use a special lotion afterwards and I make them bring me ice to put on it to minimize redness and swelling. But it is worth it.

Definitely wax! Why torture yourself for an eternity with a set of tweezers when it can all disappear with a quick slight of hand with the wax strip?
Wax ~ eyebrows & upper lip. Tweeze in between. I’ve seriously considered electrolysis for the chin. Why, oh why do we women have to have these ding dang chin hairs????

Have to admit I’m into tweezing! I’m a blonde… not much to tweeze!

WAX! You are so right, tweezing is such torture! Although I can’t afford to go out and pay someone else to do it anymore, so I learned how to do it at home with the Sally kit. I can get a whole year’s worth of waxes out of it for only $7 total! And truth be told, I always carry tweezers in my makeup bag in my purse just to make sure I don’t ever find myself with a stray hair ;o) Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for posting this! Yes, I am one of those dark haired girls too!
