It’s a sickness. I know. I can’t resist candles…especially on clearance. It wouldn’t be so bad if this were the extent of my stash, but it’s not.
The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Hi, I’m Kimba and I’m a candle-holic.
What’s your decorating addiction?

YOU ARE ALONE. Just kidding. But I don’t have a single candle in my house! I used to, pre-kids, but now with a 7, 5, and 2-year-old, plus one cat with a very fluffy tail, I feel like I just can’t light them. And I don’t like having them out, taking up space, if I can’t light them and enjoy them. But I DO love the way they soften a room, and one day (between kids and grandkids) hopefully I’ll be able to burn them again!
You and me both

i’m with you on the candles… but i only buy white and cream colored candles with vanilla or sugar cookie scents so they blend & smell yummy! i’m also addicted to vintage glassware- love hobnail plates & cups & pitchers in any color! but i’ve realized my limitation: storage space. if i can’t display it and/or use it, i can’t validate the purchase. kind of sad, but practical!
have a great wednesday!

Oh yes, I have many of those too.I guess my addiction would be picking up little cheap things to decorate with, I can’t resist a good clearance item to use somewhere in my house. I have cabinets full!

I, too, am a candle-holic.
I’ve been addicted to candles for over 15 years now.
It’s an illness but with counseling and group therapy, I’m doing better…not really but I am trying.
Oh yes, I know the feeling. Candles are probably my #1 decorating addiction. We’re in the process of moving and I’m clearing out a lot of things we can toss or give away…and you have no idea how many half-burned candles we have hidden in various cabinets!

to mand decorating addictions to mention. I just went through my candles and got rid of some. I have been buy the battery operated ones. They seem safer with my four children running around. I really like containers, expecially apotherary jars cake stands, etc.

One can never have to many!

How funny…I have am old brown secretary with the bottom drawer filled with my decorating candles…your photo almost looks like my drawer.
You aren’t alone…I have a cabinet in my kitchen dedicated to nothing but candles. I love them…what can I say? ;o)
Candles are not my problem. But I have a LOT of pretty fabric I can’t quite cut or sew.

Love candles too!!
?
I think I might also have a problem.
once when the power was out in our neighborhood, we were all trying to get ready for work and school so I put candles in everyones rooms as wel las about the house, My neighbor called and asked why we were the only ones on the block with power? Hmm think I have too many candles.
That’s hilarious! We had that happen once too. The neighbors didn’t notice but it was during the winter and the candles kept the family room warm.
I wish you were alone, but I’m in the same boat. Except it’s only a Christmas-time disease. I love Yankee Candle’s Christmas Cookies candles, so when they come out every year, I buy hundreds. Okay, maybe not hundreds. But I buy A LOT.
But my decorating addiction… paper. I buy paper all the time. Scrapbooking paper, stationery, writing tablets. I just buy it. Yikes! I need therapy.
Kimberly @ Attempting Creative´s last blog ..Great Giveaway
Yep, I’ve got them stored under my bathroom cabinet. It’s an obsession b/c I used to work at a little design boutique and any time a shipment came we could pick out whatever we wanted at 50% off. Yikes!
i have sooooo many addictions.
here goes:
8 shelves of candles & holders
1 chest of drawers full of paper napkins (i can’t pass up a cute package, or any on sale)
vintage tableclothes & napkins(favorite addiction!)
not vintage tableclothes & napkins (i have 1 whole closet full of tableclothes & napkins)
& RIBBON. it’s everywhere & it’s not like i use it to make something to sell, either. i just love ribbon. do you need a 30″ piece of some particular width & color & fabric. just call me, i’ve got it!
BUT – IN MY DEFENSE – i’m also the go to gal at church. i’m hauling things back & forth every week for people to use. i do a lot of weddings & parties & i reuse & repurpose. i say: if ya got it, use it. & share it, always share it.
randee´s last blog ..a little potty humor
I LOVE having friends like you! Friends with stuff I can borrow!
You are SO not alone, Kimba! I have that exact same problem!
I have dozens and dozens of burned votives all over the place. I cant own a candle and not burn it. But, once you burn it, it doesnt look nice anymore so it gets put away and forgotten.
And if I pass a candle store or department, I want to buy everything candle related. Lol! Because I think I need it. Right now I have 3 of those sets with like 5 candles, a little bag of rocks and the decorative plate and I have no where to put any of them. It’s a sickness. Definately.
Em
Um, yeah. That’s a lot of candles there, girl!
LOL!! I’ll admit to being a sucker for pretty, sparkly glass things….cloches, hurricanes, lanterns, etc. Can’t get enough of ‘em!
Blessings,

Tassels! They are just everywhere in my house!
Cake stands. Cake plates. Cake platters. Cake carriers. I have so many I could never use them all. And what’s worse? I CAN’T BAKE A GOOD-LOOKING CAKE TO SAVE MY LIFE. I’m not worthy of all the cake presentation goodness I own.

The candle addiction has slowed down since the kids came…
BUT, I have an obsession with Letters. Mostly W and Z, but also R and S. They are everywhere. It’s crazy.
Also, I just posted today about containers! I LOVE THEM but…must…not…buy…anymore…
I am also a candle addict. I also have an addiction to throw pillows and blankets.
Good to know I am not alone!
Maybe we could start a support group? I’m sure a ten step program would help!
I think my dresser is almost identical to the one shown in the picture. We painted it with milk paint for our daughter. My dresser used to be my moms. I only write because I have never seen one like it before.
That’s actually bottom drawer in our china cabinet. We inherited it from my husband’s aunt. I love it.
Plants! If I find a cute plant on for a good price, I have to have it.
Current house plant number = 28!
It looks like a jungle in my house!
Hello. I’m Kate. I’m addicted to white ceramics. Cannot stop. Just bought two more vases at the local thrift. Hey, they were $5 bucks. Yes, I have a problem.
From the photo, it looks as if you use the candles. If none had been used, then I would say you had a bit of a problem. If you ever lose power, you will be in great shape.
CLOCKS, hands down! LOVE them!
I think I have like 7 alone,*just* in my living room! I love clocks!
It’s funny you posted this b/c I was thinking the other day about doing a blog post about people’s “things”. Clocks are my “thing”! : )
You are not alone!!!!
I never seem to burn through an entire candle either – even the tiny votives :/
At least you, my friend, have your stash nicely organized. And I must say that I appreciate your showing us this part of your stash–I have a dresser with empty drawers, and I’ve been thinking, “Now what would be the best thing to store here?” Aha! What a great place to store candles! You are so smart.
An empty drawer??? What exactly is that???
My addiction…..fabric and ribbon….and the biggest problem is, I never use it! I just love it, its cute here and classy there, I just cant resist. I bring it home and put it with the rest of the stash to never be touched, well maybe eventually it will be
Oh my gosh. I’m right there with you. I have so much fabric that I never use. It’s stashed here, there and everywhere. My husband was searching the house for something a few weeks ago and commented about how many of my fabric stashes that he found.
Candles, napkins, white plates … you name it! I have a cabinet just for candles, etc! LOL
Hi Kimba! Hope you’re having a great day!
I think it would have to be a close tie between candle holders and ribbon…and of course candles to put in all of those candle holders! We should start a group.
I am also addicted to candles. And vintage fiesta ware!
LOL..Kimba, that’s hilarious. I too have a candle feish, you are not alone…
YAY! Now I know that I am not alone! My husband built huge in cabinets in our laundry room and one whole side is dedicated to my candle collection. So happy to know you have a collection of them too.
A whole cabinet for candles!!!! Yeeehaw!!!!
Ha Ha Ha!!!
This is TOOO Funny!
Candles, pj’s, and lotion. If I have money burning a hole in my pocket that’s where it goes
.
I am addicted to candles. How can anyone resist fire and something that smells good? <3
Before kids I had a stash similar to yours but these days I’m all about the flameless candles ever since I found them at Target. My collection is up to eight and I can’t wait to add to it.
I’ve been wanting to try out some of those flameless candles. I need to make a trip to Target.
I have a bit of pillow weakness. I love throw pillows in different colors. Of course, I don’t want to many pillows out at one time so I have to rotate them. Storing extra pillows takes up a lot of room though! Hubby always complains about the 5 extra pillows he has to throw off the bed in order to sleep.
I, too, am a candle addict. PartyLite. Tamboti Safari is my latest guilty pleasure (it’s not called “boyfriend in a box” for nothing… the smell is amazing…) I should become a consultant but I have such a tough time parting with them, I wouldn’t ever have anything to show – I’d have it all sitting around my house.
Clear glass jars & things to put in them. My other obsession which I fight to ignore…
I’m addicted to anything from the Target Dollar Spot. Pretty much anything. I had to force myself to put down the spatula and matching oven mitt with the cupcakes on them yesterday. Serious restraint.
I can’t believe I’m not the only one with a candle drawer! LOL. I thought I was the only one with a candle addiction.
Totally. Addicted.
Can’t get enough candles!!
You are not alone on this one sister! Candles are my #1 fetish. I’ve got a cupboard that looks just like your candle drawer!
LOL when I saw the picture. Oh yeah I have one of those draws..exactly. Now is a good time to get out all those half used candles and use them. On these gloomy winter nights…I am heading for my draw right now =]
Baskets – lots of baskets!
Oh, boy. Whenever at a yard sale or thrift store, I always beam in on bookends, pillows, blue and white, lamps, finials, books, decorative accessories of most types and containers like planters and apothecary jars. Question: When do you cross over the line from collector to hoarder??? Tee hee.
That’s a good question. My husband would say that I crossed over a couple of years ago.
Yes! It is the first step to recovery. Haha! I use to be a candle-a-holic… until they ended up like yours, more in drawers and closets and every nook and crevice instead of displayed. I hate dust and they were collecting a LOT of it.
Hmmmm, my decorating addiction would have to be. . .
sconces!
Hugs,
Traci
um, no…you are NOT alone!! you are a girl after my own heart. i don’t even want to admit how many candles I have in my home decor closet. Which is more of a small room in my basement. But that’s a story for another day…
check out my new Etsy shop, Kimba! Finally up and running!!

Hmmm, for me it’s free stuff in general. Are you on freecycle? It’s a little addictive. If I can get something for free and convince myself that I can make it beautiful with a little elbow grease I can’t say no. The problem is, I now have so many potentially beautiful items stowed away in every nook and cranny!
Cute little dessert/salid plates. I have tons of them… I could serve high tea to all of London today…. I have them for all seasons… and I even picked up three more today at Goodwill. (It’s a sickness… but, I can stop anytime..)
My sickness would be pillows. Oh, and lamps. I love both. At least your addiction cost less than mine:)
I am addicted to dishware! It was a lightbulb moment for my husband when we realized that we would never have enough. I enjoy planning tablescapes for parties and displaying china on the wall. My hubby once pointed out that we could host a banquet just with the plates on the wall!
I don’t have your addiction but that sure is funny. At least you know tha if the lights go out you have plenty of candles to show you the way!
I would have to agree with a few commenters that my serious addiction is anything on clearance. There’s just something about scoring a great deal on a piece, whether it need a little splash of spraypaint or not, that really gets me going!!!
I am very into candles too – but I never buy new. I find tons of them at yard sales for pennys – I get them as gifts and I make my own from little stubs of used candles with some additive fragrance that I got at Hobby Lobby. I have them burning most every day.
My addiction is not the candles. My addication is clear glass candle votive holders. I have them all over the place. Just yesterday I was checking some Waterford ones out on a clearance table, I slapped my hand and said, NO NO NO.
At least you seem to have your candle addiction organized! My current addiction is anything leopard.
Don’t miss looking at my dear friend Trish at Life to the T.com on your DIY link, she did the most fabulous burlap curtains with a great tutorial!!!
I hope to have a project done for next week! MJ
I have way too many candles, too. I made a vow a couple years ago to stop buying them.
NOT candles. LOL
I love pillows.
And quilts.
And pillows.
Oh…you and me both, I love candles. I just recently found a whole bin of unused candles in the garage, it was like hitting the loto
mmm, I love a good candle!
or two ,
or three
or…..
oh, and pillows, I just can’t seem to get enough of them lately
Kimba,
As my Gravatar will show – you are, in fact, brilliant!
Thanks for the tip, you’re a gem!
Or not.
I can’t help it, but I’m laughing over here. Still no gravitar.
I am not a candleholic but a tartaholic or wax potpurri whatever you personally call them. I love them and must have them and cant go into a store without walking out with tons of them. It is a sickness but the smell is amazing so I dont mind it to bad nor does my husband.
Hey, we should get together. I’m a candlestick holder-aholic!
We’d make a perfect pair! I’ll bring the candles. You bring the candleholders.
Nope, I’m there with ya. Oddly enough, I have a drawer full of candles, too. Pillars and tealights and tapers – oh my! I’m also addicted to crafting supplies/tools. Just. can’t. stop.
Pillows. I’m addicted to pillows. And making pillows. And changing out pillows. My 3 year old just got a new big boy bed and his greatest pleasure is that he has 3 big pillows on it. I haven’t made the accent pillows yet — but I will. He has crib sheets that need to be cut up and utilized!!

Kimba, I wish it only ended with candles for me.
Your’s is so organized! Kudo’s to you! For myself,I have accepted that I just have a addictive personality. I am addicted to: baskets, cookbooks, old dishes, white platters, antique kitchen gadgets, and that is only for the kitchen. Way to many things to list, but think you understand.
I could use a 12-step program, let me know if you start one.
Have a lovely day!
oh no, for me it’s the candle holders… in every imaginable color, as long as they are really classy and glam

Uh, mine is totally candles! I am ridiculous as well, I have entire cabinets filled to the brim. I’m especially bad when Bath and Body Works has their ‘two for 20′ deals on the three wick candles – what a steal! I can’t help it! Obessed, I tell you!
Sooooo not alone! I have candles stashed all over, too…but my serious addiction is RIBBON! Oh MY! My husband sees me look at ribbon from across the store & he has to restrain me! It’s just soooooo pretty…
Melanie´s last blog ..{TRULY} Wordless Wednesday!
I have the issue opposite of yours – I have a TON of candle holders with not enough candles. I have been telling myself lately to knock it off. Really who needs THAT many candle holders, especially when I don’t have candles to put on them!?!
Kelly @ Dare to be Domestic´s last blog ..the to do list.
I LOVE Candles, too! When we had everyone from our apartment building over for dinner I’m pretty sure they were thinking, ‘so this is the person who is a fire hazard to the apartment building.’ I also love Glass Objects. I’m sure this will all need to change once we have kids.
Wait…I thought your addiction was to spray paint???

Heathahlee´s last blog ..A Hero Once More….My Husband Rocks!
My decorating addiction is, hands down, apothecary jars. In all forms, in all sizes.
And cake pedestals.
I suppose it’s no coincidence that each are associated with yummy treats–candy in the jars & cake on the pedestals.
How sad is this? My boyfriend decided that one of the drawers in his entertainment center needed to be dedicated to my candles. (I have so many!) Candles are a weakness. So is milkglass. And, platters – but I’m getting better at the platter thing. I’ve sworn them off. But, I’m a fool for candles.
DanaMc´s last blog ..Time’s Running Out! Giveaway!
Hi – my name is Julie and Im addicted to old books! I cant stop! I have them stashed around the house because I can’t decorate with them all. I love the way they look, I love when people write in the margins, I love that if they could talk they would have so many stories to tell. I search all the thrift stores and yard sales. I evn shop Goodwill online for old books. My favorite is an old leatherbound book from 1896. It is just amazing! and I would say I love candles too- but not quite to point of having to admit my addiction- yet.
With a toddler running around I’ve curbed my addiction to candles since they don’t get burned nearly as often or set out in nearly as many places. However, I did just replace the addiction with RIBBON. I buy tons of ribbon and sadly rarely use any of it. I just can’t say No… especially when Micheal’s or another craft store has a sale… if it’s on sale it MUST be bought. I keep saying that I’m going to use some of it to make hairbows and things for my daughter but so far the stash keeps growing and nothings is being used. At least when the day does come that I decide to start making things for her, her room, holidays etc. I will most likely have the perfect ribbon for it… even though if such an occasion came along I’d probably use it as an excuse to go shop for more ribbon. Ahhh. Yes, I have a problem!
Thanks for sharing your addiction with us!
“You are not alone…I am here with you…..”
You know, the Michael Jackson song???
Anyway, I was a “fabric-holic”…I say “was” b/c I’ve Kinda taken control & am able to yell back at the fabric as they chant…”take me home”…”you need me”…”Pick me, Pick me”…but I still have boxes & boxes & boxes stacked in my garage (ceiling to floor…no joke) b/c I can’t fit anymore in my craft room, which is a good size btw!!!
So, yeah…I feel your pain! (or joy, whichever you prefer)
Hi, My name is A-M, from Australia, and I am a ‘clock-a-holic’. Yep, pretty little clocks, in groups, tucked on shelves, in any little nook that needs a certain something to finish it off. Clocks.
A-M xx
My decorating sickness(es) are chargers/dishes and placecard holders in cute little designs like pumpkins, bunnies, silver reindeer, etc. I have a complete weakness for seasonal tablescapes for my dining table.
Okay, so you inspired me to finish a LONG over-due post that I’ve been hiding in draft! (he,he,he) Hi, I’m Trish and I’m addicted to leopard print ANYTHING!!! Thanks for the fun!!!

Yep, I’m with you. My sickness is more than one item though. Like you, I “collect” candles. So many that I find myself hiding the new ones from my husband because I don’t want to hear the remarks “why did you buy that when you have a hundred more at home?!” Bad, I know, but when I find them cheap or they smell exceptionally yummy I can’t help myself. I also hord picture frames (especially vintage ones from yard sales!), baskets, and glassware of all sorts because you never know when……
Ugh, I hate to admit it, but I have a problem with blankets, throws and pillows. Every room in the house has hundreds of them.
Hi, my name is Pat and I too am a candleholic. Have been for eons and there is no desire to change.

I think the candle thing must be a genetic predispostion. I have loved candles my entire life, well as long as I can remember. When I was a kids, I would grab my grandma’s candleabra light all the candles and watch home movies by candlelight. I would even roast marshmallows by candle light using toothpicks!
