This giveaway is now closed. Congratulations to our winner, Kathleen of Fireflies and Family.

2 subject portrait

I am super picky about artwork for my home. Most of my artwork is pretty, but not very personal. There are a few photographs, but not a whole lot that shows you what and who I really love.

header

When I discovered Juli Koroly of An Eye for Art, I realized how much I would love to have a small piece of artwork that captures the beautiful faces of my children. I’m not one to hang a huge portrait of my children above the fireplace…just not my style. Juli creates beautiful oil portrait sketches in 6″x6″ or 6″x8″ sizes that are easy to incorporate into your home.

single portrait

She can do single custom portraits or entire family. Are these portraits beautiful or what?

4 subject portrait

Besides being crazy-talented, Juli really puts her heart into her work. She prefers to have multiple photographs of the subject so that she can get a better idea of their features. And she also loves to talk with her clients by phone to get an understanding of the person she is painting and what she should try and capture in the painting.

fallen hero portrait

I hope Juli doesn’t mind that I tell you that some of her most touching work has been done for the families of fallen servicemen and women. She doesn’t charge for this as she views it as a gift to those families for their ultimate sacrifice. This is her own, very personal, very special way of showing support for our troops. In Juli’s own words, “I have found that people hesitate to ask for a “free” portrait so I must depend on others to make the connection for me.”

She is also very involved as an advocate for children in the foster care system and has used her tremendous talent to depict those children with dignity and love.

3 subject portrait

For years, Juli has worked solely by word-of-mouth and referrals, but she recently opened her etsy shop called An Eye for Art. You can click over there to see different portrait options. Wouldn’t you love to see your babies captured in a beautiful oil painting? I know any Grandma would surely love it…time to think Mother’s Day!

Here’s the part that will knock your socks off! Juli is offering a single custom portrait as a giveaway to my readers! That’s a $100 value! All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me if you would keep this for yourself or give it as a gift.

What are you waiting for??? Leave a comment!

What a wonderful talent! It touches my heart that she paints our true hereos as a way to express her gratitude. Whoever wins this has won the best give-a-way yet!

I have four sons, and 6 grandchildren, I would love to start with the oldest and then have portraits of each. What a wonderful addition to any home.

I would give it to my husband to hang at his office, so he could be surrounded by the family all day.

Are you kidding? I’d keep it for myself!
Years ago, my husband and I had a painting done of our sweet little dog, Phoebe. At the time she was as close as we thought we’d ever get to having a child, and we lost her two years ago, so I will always be glad we have that painting. My girls do ask from time to time, though, why we have a painting of Phoebe and do not have one of them.
Thanks for an awesome giveaway!!

I would love to have one of my own children, but if I won I would give it to my mother in law. Her oldest son past away a couple years ago at the age of 29.. she has a couple pictures of him around the house, but I know she would love to have such a beautiful piece of art to celebrate his life.

10 Laura January 29, 2010 at 10:49 am

I would have one done of my 5 yr old son. He is a true joy and I would love to capture this stage and moment of his life forever in such a unique way!

What a talent wish I could do things like this. When I was a little girl my grandmother had paintings done of my brothers and I ..always hanging on her wall..great memories! I would have the painting done of my 8 year old daughter and would keep it for myself..I am definatly inspired that she is advocate for foster children..Actually my 8 year old was a foster child..my husband and I were foster parents for 3 years, 14 children. Our little Gabi was our ninth foster child, came into care when she was 1 day old addicted to drugs..we adopted her when she was 18months…being that our other children are grown..this little girl is the greatest thing EVERYDAY!
Wishing myself luck to win :)

I’ve seen Juli’s work in person, absolutely amazing, she truly captures the personality of each subject she paints….what a great keepsake! I want to get a portrait of my cousin who died last summer and give it to his wife.

16 Angie January 29, 2010 at 12:35 pm

What a lovely talent to share. I’m not sure to give or keep, either way just lovely. I also appreciate her willingness to share with those families that have made such a sacrifice for our great nation.

17 Rebecca January 29, 2010 at 1:06 pm

I didn’t realize reading about your give away would make me sad until I read the last part….would you keep this or give it away? I would give it away to my parents. My 37 year brother lost is life in August 09 after a 2 1/2 yr battle with cancer. My parents have never owned a painting and this would be an amazing gift!

25 Sandy M. January 29, 2010 at 4:32 pm

These are beautiful! And I was in tears reading about her “gift” to the families of fallen servicemen & women. I volunteer at the local USO weekly & we have an honors team that provides a formal ceremony when one of our fallen heroes comes through our airport. It is SO moving & so meaningful to the families. It’s amazing how so many people find different ways to honor all of our military heroes, those still serving & those who have served.

26 heidi @ wonder woman wannabe January 29, 2010 at 4:48 pm

I’d keep it to remember my sweet boys as they are right now!! ;)

27 nanasewn January 29, 2010 at 5:34 pm

28 jodi January 29, 2010 at 5:43 pm

Beautiful work… and such a warm heart that goes into it…
I would keep it for myself and treasure it like a family heirloom…
The kids are growing up so fast :(

29 Jane Jones January 29, 2010 at 5:46 pm

As much as I’d love to keep it, I’d have to have one made for my mother-in-law. We lost my husband’s 17 year old sister a few years ago and I think something like this would be a wonderful reminder of her special angel who now lives with her Forever Father in heaven. I know she’d love it.

30 Ashley January 29, 2010 at 8:32 pm

I would have one made of my new baby, who is at this moment 57 hours old :)

31 katy b January 29, 2010 at 11:41 pm

36 Jamila January 30, 2010 at 1:55 pm

Since I would have to buy one for my parents & my in-laws, the only fair thing to do would be to keep the artwork for our home. That way they could come visit their granddaughter Keely Beth & see her lovely portrait at the same time. Check out her blog, I am obsessed with taking pictures of my child!

This is an amazing giveaway! I always dreamed of having my children’s portraits painted when they were little. But I became a single mom of three children and spent most of my time either working to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table, taking them to church and getting them involved in activities that we could afford. Now they are grown and have children of their own. I would still love to have a family portrait — either of my children or grandchildren to brighten my walls.

43 Lacy January 30, 2010 at 8:19 pm

These are so beautiful!!! I would love one of my kids….and I have to say, I’d keep it for myself and would love looking at it every day! Thanks for the chance to win!

44 Lisa January 30, 2010 at 9:21 pm

That is awesome. I think I might be selfish enough to keep it for myself. What a great way to remember your little one – beautiful.

45 Woman Interrupted January 30, 2010 at 10:54 pm

I would like to be selfish for once…. last week we had to say goodbye to my sister who was 9 years older then me. There is this one picture of us we both liked very very much of us as being sisters. Our mum made it when I was trying to stop my sister crying as she had a broken teenage heart.
I love this picture so much but I cut it up once to let it fit in a little frame. I would love to have it painted ;)
